Confusing words: fun or funny




1. FUN: dibertigarria  

San Fermin festival is a lot of fun!




2. FUNNY: Barregarria
Are clowns funny for you? 
The joke you told me, was very funny.  











He is not having a good time ! = 
He is not having fun ! 
Why ? Because the clowns are scary for some people ! They aren´t funny at all for them!

Beraz, funny = barregarria, irrigarria 
eta fun= dibertigarria, ongi pasatzen duzun zerbait 

3. THINK VS. THING

Think: Pentsatu 
Thing: gauza ; things=gauzak




















4. DEAD vs. DIE 

To die= hil, zendu
My cat died last month. (Nire katua hil zen aurreko hilabetean). 
Dead: Hila  edo hilik egon 
Now, my poor cat is dead! (Orain nire katu gaixoa hilik dago!).













Life izena da, beraz euskeraz bizia edo bizitza esango genuke. 
Live aditza da (LiVe is the Verb!). Beraz, euskeraz bizi gara edo bizi dira edo dena delakoa esango genuke.

Modal verbs: Must & Can´t. MODAL VERBS (I)

 

What´s a Modal Verb?


A modal is a type of auxiliary (helping) verb that is used to express: ability, possibility, permission or obligation. Modal phrases (or semi-modals) are used to express the same things as modals, but are a combination of auxiliary verbs and the preposition to. The modals and semi-modals in English are:
  1. Can/could/be able to
  2. May/might
  3. Shall/should
  4. Must/have to
  5. Will/would
